Mansfield Area Historical Society & Museum
The Mansfield Area Historical Society was formed in 2003 Since that time, the membership has continued to grow, incorporating younger members along the way. As a result, the museum, which relies primarily upon donations, has been blessed with enough volunteers to enable the building to be open Monday through Saturday. Additional displays are constantly added to the contents of the museum, so its appearance changes every few months. The museum strives to develop and maintain items of interest not only to local residents, but also to the many visitors who stop on their way to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum and Baker Creek Seeds. Laura Ingalls Wilder and Carl Mays, a Major League Baseball player from Mansfield, draw the attention of most visitors to the area. The Mansfield Area Historical Society is extremely proud to showcase not only these two residents, but also all the early settlers and their descendants who struggled to make ends meet in the area rich farmland and water sources, even though the elements were sometimes unforgiving.
It is hoped that the publication of this website will enable the Mansfield Area Historical Society to continue its attempts to record the fascinating historical events of this area.
The museum is dedicated in providing publications for Laura Ingalls Wilder, Carl Mays and genealogy research.
We also support the area with tourist information and maps.
